Not sure why you wanna keep it that long though, if you add stuff use user.js file instead of prefs.js and just remember you can point the local/mail/news folders & files to older profile directories mail settings.. They change how it will read the text file here with string changes.. So you should use one build with a new profile anyway. When looking for bugs like this always try a new clean default profile with the new build. This should eliminate whether its related to prefs.js file problem and older builds.
