Communicator does in fact import directly from Outlook 2000, at least version 4.79 does. Even though the import routine lists options only for Outlook 97/98, selecting this will import all of Outlook 2000 mails. I've done it a number of times successfully. Just make sure Outlook 2000 is set as your default mail program before you start the import and it should work.
