That didn't seem to work for me either. I did get it solved, though.
Here are my notes to myself. This is to get all the benifits of a new
profile but not lose stuff I accumulate.
1) Create new profile to get new prefs
2) Back up old profile
3) Copy all files in new profile to old profile
4) In overwritten old profile change lines:
user_pref("signon.SignonFileName", "81131467.s");
user_pref("signon.expireMasterPassword", false);
user_pref("wallet.SchemaValueFileName", "81131791.w");
5) Copy over bookmarks, address books, etc.
6) Pray
The 8111* files should be the correct names, of course. The
expireMasterPassword was giving me fits until I choose false. Otherwise
it was asking me my PW everytime I needed info out of my encrypted files.
I can remember if its necessary to set other settings before doing this.
