This surprises me a bit; generally, I'd say NS4 plugins should work.

Well, this is probably difficult. You could mail Sun and ask them to
provide an IRIX plugin.
There are a few open-source Java Virtual Machines, but to my knowledge
none of them provides a browser plugin.
