Since this is a mozilla forum, I'll be using references to bugs a lot in
the discussion below go to http://bugzilla.mozilla.org and type in the
bug number to get there (sorry if I'm insulting, but you don't appear to
be very involved with the mozilla project ;)

I haven't seen this, can't find it in bugzilla. If you want this
feature, feel free to file a bug on it. I don't have winXP and don't
know what you're talking about or I'd do the filing myself.

This really hasn't been discussed extensively to my knowledge, though I
am interested in it. The appropriate bug number is bug 18729, there's a
lot of jargon thrown around in there, but you can see where they
discussed these very issues. If you have something you "really want to
see" then get a post in that bug.

I'm guessing yes. I've discussed ways of working around this now and
HellCowboy over on #mozillazine and he recommends a program called
traymin which you can find at
http://www.pcmag.com/article/0,2997,a%253D9149,00.asp I haven't gotten a
chance to test it, but it will at least play the sound when you get new
mail even when there's no window on the taskbar.

There isn't anything exactly like this, but you can (as mentioned in
another post) give the thread a label to make it easy to find.

I hope to be able to search the headers/names without moz crashing. :]

The world of themes is a constantly shifting one at the moment as
everything gets cleaned up for the final push to 1.0, everything in that
area changes daily, so who wants to see their hard work obsoleted in a
day? I do have a theme in the works, but am waiting for everything to
stop changing before I implement it, and I'm sure others are as well.

Mozilla has no control over what goes on in Netscape with this stuff, so
I can't say anything about it.

Again, I realize your concern, but this won't happen until mozilla/NS6
gets more maket share. The companies that make these are in control over
this, not mozilla.

This is easily solveable with the <F9> key, just leave the sidebar open
and hit <F9> to open/close.

You may want to put that cable modem to use and download either a
mozilla milestone or a nightly, 0.9.8 is looking great and is
considerably better than the 0.9.4 release that NS6.2 is built on. I've
completely changed my browsing habits since the introduction of tabs,
it's a really fantastic feature and I hear that Windows XP theme stuff
is cool (classic gets itself to look just like your windowsXP theme,
it's really neat). You are correct when you say they're mostly working
on fixing what's broken than on adding more to the mess, though there
are always features being tacked onto the whole, mostly small things
that just make the program a little better to use. I think everybody
here will agree with you that they want a better browser.

The debate revolves around whether to fetch the little graphic like IE
does when it files bookmarks (by asking for a file that may or may not
exist at a certain location) or by having the site owner explicitly tell
the browser where the file is located. This is more significant than
with IE because mozilla asks for the file very frequently in order to
show it on the urlbar rather than just for bookmarks.
