thats exactly what i did, several times incl. restarting everything 
etc. png & mp3 stayed unchecked, but still quicktime would start when 
moz encountered one of the two mimetypes.

now it works again at least for png, but mp3s still launch quicktime 
although it is unchecked an the mozilla preferences specify winamp as 
helper app.
