Hi. I'm interested in setting up Mozilla 0.9.7 to automatically invoke wget to download a *.gz or a *.bz2 file when I click on it, instead of using Mozilla's built-in downloading thingy.
I tried setting up the following in Helper Applications: File type "Application/gzip" with extension "GZ" should be handled by the application "xterm -e wget -P ~/download %s". It seems, however, that Mozilla is only recognizing the very end of that application command--when I click on a *.gz file, it asks me if I want to save it or if I want to use the application "download %s" (skipping most of the command that I had hoped would invoke wget in its own xterm). Choosing the application option simply leads to Mozilla downloading the file itself as normal. Does anybody have any advice? I'm sorry if this has come up before, but I haven't found anything on it. I'm hoping that means that the solution is pretty simple. Thanks a lot. --Geoff
