Tried different things:

Addtype text/xml xml
Addtype text/ css css

and
Addtype text/xml .xml
Addtype text/css .css

And other variants in the .htaccess file, but nothing seems to work.

Shouldn't the provider set these globally? What settings should he
change/add?
