What happened to my sidebar?

I haven't used the sidebar for a while, because I prefer to 
see web pages at full screen.  I tried to use it today, but 
the tab will not pull out.  Nor will it jump out when I 
click on it.  This occurs in both Mozilla 0.9.9 and Netscape 
6.2.1.
