I don't know if this is it, but it says in http://home.netscape.com/eng/mozilla/ns62/relnotes/62.html:
"If you have the Crescendo 5.01 plug-in, you must update to the latest version of Crescendo. Otherwise, Netscape may crash at startup." Do you have crescendo?
