If your clients are running Windows (95 or later), you could try
downloading Microsoft Word Viewer 97-2000, available for free from
Office Update:

If you install the Word Viewer on a machine that has Netscape Navigator
(or Communicator) 4.x, it will also install a plug-in that views Word
documents in a browser window. The plug-in works similarly to the Adobe
Acrobat Reader plug-in. (Incidentally, the same trick works with the
Powerpoint viewer, which even supports full-screen presentations.)

If your clients are *not* running Windows, um, lots of luck - I don't
know of any other plug-in that reads Word documents.

HTH,
