You should follow W3C standards, and frankly speaking, you will get rather 
good level of compatibility between Netscape6 and MS IE6.
Just be sure that you have HTML4 Strict Doctype in your HTML pages (and that 
your page are *valid* HTML4 Strict)
Of course, MS IE5 is far away from being perfect, but hey: it's still better 
than Netscape Navigator 4.7.

Short advise to you: *do not use tables for layout*
If you have real table (like extract of data from database table) - it's ok.
But for layouting, you should use DIV and SPAN (display: block and display: 
inline) formatting elements. To make something on *left side*, use 'float: 
left' for that block (it applies to menus, page links, etc.)
To make *something on right side*, use 'float: right'
