I had the same problem.Hi there, I'm hoping to get help with a problem I've had installing 1.4.
A couple weeks ago, I tried a 1.4 beta and the same thing happened as did today with 1.4 RC1: install appears to proceed fine, however the exe crashes and fails to launch at all.
I've tried install on top of a functioning 1.3.x as well as removing Moz before install - but get the same result.
Has anyone else had these problems? I've seen nothing in the release notes, nor in bugzilla.
Is there any known fix?

Follow these steps ...
1. Uninstall Mozilla.
2. Delete what's left of your install directory (this is usually C:\Program Files\mozilla.org) - this does not delete your profile (bookmarks, preferences, cookies etc.)
3. Now install Mozilla 1.4
