I now wrote a cache that loads images and caches them. I get the loadgroup from my current nsIDocument. Later I want to use the cached images in other documents than the one I used to load group from to load the image (at least I think so, e.g. in another "main xul window"). The documenent from which I originally loaded the image may even be discarded by then. I hope as the images finished loading by then this is not a problem...
Yeah... loadgroups and image loads are a little weird, because loadgroups presume that each load is associated with a particular loadgroup and images sorta violate this assumption by coalescing loads across documents...
If you're waiting for the images to fully load, there is probably no issue, but keep in mind that some images (multipart jpegs come to mind) never fully load.
