Hi,

a) username is asked for when you establish the account (Edit >
Mail/News Account Settings > New Account)

b) password is asked for when you enter the account for the first time
and may be maintained thru the password manager (see dialogue window
when entering the account)

This is my experience with Mozilla's nightlies

Gert
