Why deletes MailNews every single message?

If I mark some messages in my inbox (or any other folder) and delete 
them one messager after the other disappears and it takes a long time 
until deletion is complete.
I know, it's a known bug, but _why_ does Moz behave this way? And IMO 
this is a very annoying bug, who's working on it?
I think a first step to improve this is to refresh the inbox only after 
ALL messages are deleted and not after every deleted messager. I'm not a 
coder, but logically this should be faster.
