attachment context type

Why is it, that when I attach and send a wav file to myself
(context type="audio/x-pn-windows-acm"), the mime type
comes up as "application/octet-stream" when I attempt to
open the attachment ??

Any and all hints/comments will be greatly appreciated.

FYI: I'm running Mozilla Build ID 2001010621 on a Linux PC.
