I think, you're making it yourself too easy. I wouldn't upload my files
to netscape.com. You have to allow an arbitary server, which means Pref
UI again.

You don't think, users will pay for that, do you? Look at all those free
webspace sites, freemailers etc.. (Yes, i think, it's sad - but true.)
BTW: This solution has a lot of potential problems.
- How does it work through firewalls?
- How long should the server keep files? How is the deletion triggered
(ok, point for you mpt)?
I agree that uploading via FTP instead of attaching is the right thing
at the moment most of the time for large files, and havong UI for it
would be very good. But "at the moment most of the time for large files"
(many "soft" variables) already questions the value.
