for some history, mscott implemented that to see who was using Mozilla
mail-news and who wasn't. When mozilla was just a pup, mscott was the
first person to ditch 4.x and only use mozilla. When we'd get internal
mail from people on the mozilla team not using mozilla, we'd give them
grief. (still do.)
