NETSCAPE6 page fault expanding alt news group

Just installed Netscape 6.  The following sequence fails every time:

Open Mail
File/Subscribe  (news groups load)
click right Triangle for alt

results in Illegal operation "Netscape6 caused invalid page fault in
mouude<unknown>

It must be size related because I am able to get to other newsgroups fine:
e.g. rec.bicycle.rides

Any suggestions, fix, bypass.
