And I discovered how to hid all the deleted mail in the Trash folder,
using Netscape 4.74.  The hidden messages didn't delete during
compaction.  Check the Trash folder properties, if space is being used
when you can't see anything, change the settings for retention of
newsgroup headers from 0 days to another number.  A zero setting is
possible when one puts in 2 digits, one of which is zero and then
deletes (rubs out) the non zero digit.  Very useful setting when in a
newsroom like "24hoursupport.helpdesk" which get a few hundred messages
per day.
