HTML is not dangerous in any fashion, aside from being horribly ugly at times.
Javascript has the potential to be annoying in email, but can be disabled for
the Mail-News client. What you're thinking of is embedded scripts such as VB
Script, VBA, and executable code. Mozilla will never execute any non-Javascript
code, period. VBA and VBS are Microsoft specific, and are only problems for
Microsoft email clients, on Microsoft platforms. If someone sends you a
malicious VB script, it will show up as an attachment, and you will have the
option of saving it to the disk, where you can then run it, but that's it.
Disable Javascript in Mail-News and you'll be protected from email viruses that
automatically execute. Now, executable code will still be dangerous, but only if
you choose to run it.
