Yes, I am working on such a client. It is split in 2 parts: some CORBA 
wrapper, that hides the Mozilla Mailnews backend behind CORBA 
interfaces, so it can be accessed easier, and a experimental GUI for 
Berlin <http://www.berlin-consortium.org>. You can see a screenshot 
there. The Berlin UI won't be useful for you (It's really only an 
experiment). But the CORBA wrapper could help somebody else to write a 
native Mailnews frontend or even a web frontend, if you want. Maybe, 
some day, I will come up with my own Mailnews GUI.

But I'm having a few problems with the Mozilla Mailnews backend, which 
will have to be sorted out. Probably no show-stoppers, but it needs works.

I'd like to check in the CORBA wrapper to the mozilla.org tree, if I am 
allowed to.
