I wish I could say the same for all builds I've tried (though I haven't
grabbed today's nightly yet) on my WIN2K PC. The machine isn't bleeding
edge, but it's a K6-450 w/128 MB RAM. It runs anything (multiple apps at a
time) I can throw at it, but Mozilla alone often hits near 50MB in memory.
Consequently, when I minimize it to do anything else, I've got like a 5
second delay before I can restore another app. RAM is cheap - I realize
that, but to expect that the "masses" are all going to be running 256MB and
greater *just* so that Mozilla will run well, isn't realistic. I *love*
everything about Mozilla, from the interface itself, to it's current
stability, and the great mail/news/browser integration. But - I'm at a
point where I'm thinking, "Is spending even just $50 worth it, just to run
Mozilla?". I can't believe it will ever gain wide acceptance with such
memory demands. It's a shame too, because it's probably way too late in the
game for it to be changed now.
