I hope someone can help me. I was reffered to this newsgroup. Here's
the story:

On my old computer I had WIN 95. I used Netscape for mail and
newsgroups. My old server Bell Atlantic had everyone switched over to
Verizon. Once I did that I could not download newsgroups. You know,
the first time you ever go in and you go to File then Subscribe and it
downloads everything. Well, it would just say it was downloading and
then hang. NO newsgroups downloaded.

I clicked on "new" in the same window and found that it would trickle a
few groups, like 200, in no order, finish and then trickle a little more
and then re-trickle the same ones again. My ISP had no clue what was
going on.

I got a new computer the next day and thought I would try again. This
is an HP with WIN ME. Same thing happened. Anyone heard of this
happening? I was trying Netscape 4.7. I should make it clear that I am
not trying to get into any newsgroups, it wouldn't let me get that
far. This problem is happening when, for the very first time you have
Netscape and you go into newsgroups and you have to go into "subscribe"
in order to download all 41 some odd housand newsgroups, it would just
say it is downloading, it looks like it is mulling it over, but it just
hangs.

I was told to go into the "fat" file and check that out. Everything
seems fine as far as I can tell. I am truly stumped!!!!

Thanks!!
