I had this exact problem yesterday morning after downloading the nightly
Linux build. No Mozilla version at that point would allow me to see my
Inbox. (I run .9 or .9.1 when I bleed too much in one day)

What I HAD to do: move my .mozilla directory to .mozilla.bak. Re run
Mozilla and let it create a new profile etc. Then move bookmarks.html
over from the backup. Then move all the save files from the Mail
directory to the new one. EXCEPT don't move "Inbox" and "Inbox.msf",
cuz then you will have the same problem all over again. After this
everything worked fine for me.

BTW, a text editor with the old Inbox file will let you see the email
that you missed.
