I have all ready been down the road you are wanting to go down. MSN's
hotmail is an "http" based system - not IMAP based. Outlook Express is
designed to do the hotmail thing. Outlook Express does not work with
Netscape's IMAP system, as it's a programming thing - the two companies
do not like each other.

Now, Netscape's mail reader can read Netscape mail! However, the
netscape web-based service is so slow that it causes my machine to sit
there waiting for a response from their server (I'm on a cable modem in
the middle of the Pacific Ocean). Anyway, Netscape mail cannot read
Hotmail - as it does not support http based systems.

In the not too distant past, I had figured out a way to get Outlook
Express to check my Netscape.net account and yes, it did work. However,
due to a system registry error that eventually FORCED A REFORMAT AND
INSTALLATION OF EVERYTHING, I am unable to remember how it was done.

So, the bottom line: it can be done, that is, to have Outlook Express
hit and get your mail from Netscape's netscape.net web-based mail, but
the settings are so out of it, that I cannot remember how and frankly, I
have given up. The logical settings will not work. I was able to get the
information on setting OE up to check Netscape's system from an Internet
site and gosh, I cannot remember the name, blah, blah, blah.

So, give up the ship, my friend. I went on to other headaches.
