i installed a recent mozilla nightly at work, and was pleasantly suprised
to see a spell cheker icon in the compose window. so i go home and
install a nightly and there is no spellchecker icon. i come to find out
that for some reason, the profile i use at home (which is very old,
since the NS4.x days, had no problems migrating up to current mozilla
nightlies). i move mozregistry & mozver & localstore, replaced all the
chrom dirs in my profile with the default chrome dirs, and all those
thingies which i figured could be the culprit, but to no avail.

        my #1 suspect is C:\windows\appliation data\mozilla\registry.dat ... it
contains things like "migrated yes" and "OldRegDataMoved yes" and refers
to directories no longer existant (on computers i had 3-4 years ago!) ..
but if i get rid of this file, mozilla doesn't find my profile, and i
lose years of stuff (bookmarks, mail, etc).

if remove registry.dat and install fresh with a brand new profile, i get
spellcheck but lose my profile.

if keep registry.dat and install over my current profile, i don't get
spellcheck. but i keep my profile.

anyone know what's up? is there a safe way to start fresh and import all
my important shit?
