java applets + linux + mozilla

hi - running RH 7.1, moz 0.9.2 full installer
just wondering if anybody else has advise on how to get jre plugin to 
work or is it only not working for me

currently have jre1.3.1 from the sun site installed
and have added a symlink from the mozilla plugins dir to this.

anything else?
