External editor for email composition?

Is there any way to convince Netscape 6.1 (Windows) to call an external 
editor it edit email? I like vim. :) Even better, it is possible to 
"plug in" an external editor that supports OLE? Supposedly gvim can be 
plugged into Visual Studio, and I would like to do the same with 
Netscape/Mozilla mail.
