vertical "Mail Folders" bar (wasted space)

I did my first CVS build today since 0.9.2 came out and the mail/news 
window has a new "feature" consisting of a one inch wide blue bar 
labeled "Mail Folders" going down the left side. The actual mail 
folders/newsgroups area is to the right of it. I've tried dragging the 
right side of it but I can't seem to get rid of it. I can't imagine why 
anyone would want this inch of wasted space. Is there a way to remove 
this or is this a known temporary glitch?
This is on Linux (RH 7.1).
