Here are the two oddities I've seen:
If you move a message to a folder it disappears from the source folder
but doesn't reappear in the destination folder until you go online and
it gets moved for real
Synchronizing never gets all the mail messages and newsgroup messages
for the folder you specify. (I have several news servers and one IMAP
mail server.)
Other than those nigglies, I've never had a problem with data loss.
