Quicklaunch still checking my mail??!!

Mozilla still seems to be checking my mail if only the quicklaunch tool 
is active. I'd expect that the quicklaunch component should only be 
speeding up launching of the tools, not checking my mail aswell. Yes? Is 
this a bug?
