All my incoming mail ends up in one mailbox with one POP account, but I
need to be able to reply using different addresses (e.g., listadmin;
webmonster; bw-whois; etc.). Currently the mail app explicitly requires
each "account" (identity) to have a distinct POP account.

In the design specs at <http://www.mozilla.org/mailnews/specs/accounts/>
it appears that this was a conscious design decision. What is the
rational behind the forced 1:1 relationship for identities and POP
accounts? Is there a way to accomodate my situation (besides creating
bogus POP login info for each identity)? Why not allow the POP server
field to remain blank?
