Take at peek at the sidebar panel that I worked on. Posted to
netscape.pubic.mozilla.wishlist on 01/08/29 at 12:47 EST by 'ske'. As a
component of this utility you will find javascript code for changing
prefs. The whole shebang is wrapped in XUL so it may be what you are
looking for.
