Getting new messages from newsgroups

Hi,

I subscribe to a newsgroup and decide to get only last 2'000 messages on 
total 10'000 messages.

 From that point, how do I get other 8'000 messages?

Seems that they are lost until I unsubscribe and subscribe again to this 
newsgroup?! I do receive new messages, but not older 8'000 ones...
