Set up Mozilla and Mail/News as POP3, then:
Go to your profile folder, usually ./mozilla/xxx.slt/ and open prefs.js
with a text-editor.
Look for a line similar to the following:
user_pref("mail.server.server1.type", "pop3");
and change it to
user_pref("mail.server.server1.type", "movemail");
