Hi, this is much requested feature thats been worked on. See Bugzilla http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=18266 for more info (and a hack to get it working, altough badly) and then vote for this bug and hope that someone finally make it work like it should! It looks a bit abandonded right now...
I myself cant really understand why this hasnt been in from the very start, as it should be obvoius that any modern IMAP client must have this feature, right now Mozilla mail is usless for me.
