Two methods.
Method #1
Go to
Edit -> Preferences -> Mail and Newsgroups
and uncheck the setting
[ ] When Mail launches, show the Start Page in the message area

For Netscape 6.1, the file named "prefs.js" will be in a directory
similar to one of the following.
C:\WINDOWS\Application Data\Mozilla\Profiles\<<*NS_PROFILE*>>\<<*RANDOM*>>.slt\
C:\Windows\Profiles\<<*WIN_PROFILE*>>\Application
Data\Mozilla\Profiles\<<*NS_PROFILE*>>\<<*RANDOM*>>.slt\
