MHTML mail problems in Netscape

I am having problem with e-mail attachments that I am getting. They
are in MHTML format, and when I click on the attachment, I get a "part
1.2"  that is highlighted, when I click on that I get another "part
1.2 in plain text. But when it opens, it is blank. I used Netscape 4.7
in communicator.
 1. Do you have any idea how to open the attachments?
 2. What is MHTML?
 3. Would these message open if I had a newer version of Netscape?
