Lying in bed with Strep throat, I thought "I'll help out by testing"....
That should be mindless enough.
Well, it took something like 2 hours to import my messages from 4.78.
Admittedly, that's about 150,000 messages since 1997, but it would be
nice to have the progress bar show how many had been processed and how
many left to go. The progress bar simply froze.
Anyway, I got stuck pretty quickly: all the characters typed into any
field were doubled. Showstopper. I'm sure it will be fixed soon, but
I'll probably not have time to test again....
This happened for every preferences box, the subject lines in messages,
the URL for browsing. For example, typing
"www.monkey.org" -> "wwwwww..momonnkkeyey.oorrgg"
Note that it wasn't a simple duplication! Presumably has to do with
typing speed of some pairs.
I rebooted, restarted, did everything I could think of, but the problem
was repeatable and unfixable.
Yet, NS 4.78 ran just fine along side it!
