On a Windows machine, I got the BadTrans virus in the mail. As soon as I clicked on the guilty mail with just a Subject heading of Re:, a save dialogue box appeared automatically asking me what I wanted to save the file as. My virus protection program immediately balked at accessing the file.
I'm curious though. What's the process for getting the save item box to appear automatically? Usually, I have to initiate an action before using the attachment. I looked at the same email via Linux, and it did the same thing saying that just by viewing it I have chosen to download the file from my IMAP server and then asked for confirmation. I thought Mozilla was conservative with respect to automatic actions being prompted by the sender (in this case, choosing to start the saving process). It does still ask for a confirmation, but I'm surprised that the save dialogue box came up on its own. The attachment was just a Base64 encoded attachment designed to look like an MP3 file.
