Newsgroups view "Threads with Unread"

Newsgroups view "Threads with Unread" doesn't work reliably anymore.

As I recall, a few months ago, it was a reported bug.  Then it seemed 
fixed for awhile.  Now it's broken again.

Is this a fix we can do with the XUL or pref.js file?
