Of course the message will remain on the server even if you 
can't see it once you've read it - simply toggling from "unread" 
to "all" brings it back in view.

And you CAN store it locally - right click and select "Copy 
to.." from the context menu.  You can store the message in any 
folder you like.

It would, and maybe it will be there eventually - file an RFE
