In tomorrows build, LDIF will be one of the available options for exporting addressbooks.
(Note, you can already export to .csv, .tab and .txt) LDIF export is the best way to export because it handles non-ASCII data and mailing lists. The other formats (.cvs, .tab and .txt) do not. LDIF is still lossy, but not terribly so. see bug #119360 for details. I hope this allows people to move address books between profiles without having to muck with .mab files and prefs. One other note, export (LDIF or otherwise) of LDAP addressbooks doesn't work yet. see bug #120015 for details. -Seth
