I do not know about certificates.But,for the SMTP,you should have your 
server as Default.You can do it from the SMTP page,and click Advanced.
If you see only a generic server,you should enter the information for 
the server. I use Win98,but the procedure should be the same. Make sure 
that you use the correct name of the server.
