I'm using IMAP, Mozila 0.98 (2002020406). I have delete set to move message to
Trash, an IMAP folder *not* set for message download (local message storage).
I currently have about 4000 messages in my Inbox, which are stored locally
(about 250MB). Trash has 12,000 messages.

Issue:

I haven't tried sync since moving from Netscape to Mozilla. I decided Mozilla
seems stable enough to give it a shot, so I tried going offline and deleting a
message from my Inbox. I heard much disk activity, and found that after it
subsided my Trash mbox went from 0 to 250MB, just a few kB less than the
Inbox. That is, it appears that my Inbox was essentially copied to the Trash.
The Inbox itself is intact - I'm just speculating that the mechanism for doing
an offline delete may somehow involve copying the Inbox message store. I then
tried deleting a second message, and after a bunch more disk activity received
an out of disk space error, and Trash was up to 420MB. It appears that each
deleted message is resulting in a tremendous amount of wasted space.

Is this the proper behavior, or is this a bug? If it's proper behavior I can
understand it may be due to the size of my Inbox, although I would have to say
this isn't very elegant handling of the problem. If it's a bug I'll file
somethign (I wasn't able to find anything when doing a search for sync and
IMAP).

Thanks,

Bill
