Definitely the shortcut.

As I already wrote in <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
| Headers like "Subject:", "Comments:" or other, user-defined,
| fields may contain colons. Fields like "To:", "Reply-To:", 
| "CC:" or "BCC:" may also contain colons in their address-list,
| please see RFC 2822, especially the sections 3.4 and 3.6.3.

This would break more standards than help.
