I don't understand why this is a problem, though- if a receiver had the fonts installed they could get the "benefit" of the fonts you used, and if not they'd have the standard message in a default font.
not that I'm hip enough to care, but my graphic designer housemates make use of every formatting tool they can find. a related example would be mozilla sending HTML-mail- half the people I work with use non-HTML-enabled mailreaders, but that feature is still available in Moz... I think it's fine not to have this feature, but the justification for the lack of the feature is not a good one. and obviously it's missed by some folks.
