Yeah, I've seen this a few times. It seems to be a result of the mail
summary files getting out of sync with the mailbox files.

This seems to happen if there is something that has upset the mail
download or folder compaction processes. I'm guessing these operations
work against messages in bulk rather than singly, and when there is an
interruption it leaves the two files in an unsynchronized state. IOW,
the .msf header information points to the wrong entry in the mailbox
file. It's analogous to a non-ACID database choking in the middle of a
transaction.

There is a workaround. If you see it happening, just exit Mozilla and
delete all the affected .msf files in your mail directories. When you
relaunch and check mail the .msf files will be automatically recreated.

If you want to see that this problem is solved in future releases, you
should post it to Bugzilla.
